I’m tired of the lies and the cheating, and the broken promises that were never meant to be kept.
The man who promises everything is sure to fulfil nothing, and everyone who promises too much is in danger of using evil means in order to carry out his promises, and is already on the road to perdition.
To promise not to do a thing is the surest way in the world to make a body want to go and do that very thing.
Sometimes people don’t understand the promises they’re making when they make them. Right, of course. But you keep the promise anyway. That’s what love is. Love is keeping the promise anyway.
Promises were made to be broken.
If you start out by promising what you don’t even have yet, you’ll lose your desire to work toward getting it.[Se você sair prometendo o que ainda não tem, vai perder sua vontade de consegui-lo.]
He who is slowest to make a promise is always most faithful at keeping it..[Sachez que le plus lent à promettre est toujours le plus fidèle à tenir.]
