I’ve never been afraid to fail.
I’ve missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I’ve been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.
I want to wake up every day and do whatever comes in my mind, and not feel pressure or obligations to do anything else in my life.
I play to win. Whether during practice or a real game. I don’t play just for money of fun. I play to win fair and square. And I will not let anything get in the way of me and my competitive enthusiasm to win.
I never looked at the consequences of missing a big shot… when you think about the consequences you always think of a negative result.
I mean we all fly. Once you leave the ground, you fly. Some people fly longer than others.
I hope that it’s given the millions of people that I’ve touched the optimism and the desire to achieve their goals through hard work, perseverance, and positive attitude.
I can accept failure, everyone fails at something. But I can’t accept not trying.
Fear is an illusion. You think something is standing in your way, but nothing is really there. What is there is an opportunity to do your best and gain some success.
Excellence isn’t a one-week or one-year ideal. It’s a constant.
Enjoy every minute of life. Never second-guess life.
