The American Dream can no more remain static than can the American nation. What I am trying to point out is that we cannot any longer take an old approach to world problems. They aren’t the same problems. It isn’t the same world. We must not adopt the methods of our ancestors; instead, we must emulate that pioneer quality in our ancestors that made them attempt new methods for a New World.
That’s your job in this hard world, to keep your love alive and see that you get on, no matter what. Pull your act together and just go on.
That’s what the world is, after all: an endless battle of contrasting memories.
Sometimes the world we live in is a truly weird place.
Right now, we gotta get peace back in the world. Peace is a real thing.
Our world is not the same as Othello’s world. You can’t make flivvers without steel – and you can’t make tragedies without social instability. The world’s stable now. People are happy; they get what they want, and they never want what they can’t get.
Our world is in profound danger. Mankind must establish a set of positive values with which to secure its own survival.
Our world faces a crisis as yet unperceived by those possessing power to make great decisions for good or evil.
Our senses enable us to perceive only a minute portion of the outside world.
One half of the world cannot understand the pleasures of the other.
On some other world, possibly it is different. Better. There are clear good and evil alternatives. Not these obscure admixtures, these blends, with no proper tool by which to untangle the components.
Not how the world is, is the mystical, but that it is.[Nicht wie die Welt ist, ist das Mystische, sondern dass sie ist.]
