We want a world where life is preserved, and the quality of life is enriched for everybody, not only for the privileged.
One change of attitude would change everything. If everyone realized that it could be a beautiful world and said let’s not do these things anymore — let’s have fun.
You say you want a revolution,
Well, you know, we all want to change the world…
But when you talk about destruction,
Don’t you know that you can count me out.
You have to hold yourself back from the sufferings of the world: this is something you are free to do and is in accord with your nature, but perhaps precisely this holding back is the only suffering that you might be able to avoid.
You cannot hope to build a better world without improving the individuals. To that end each of us must work for his own improvement and, at the same time share a general responsibility for all humanity, our particular duty being to aid those to whom we think we can be most useful.
