Death must be so beautiful. To lie in the soft brown earth, with the grasses waving above one’s head, and listen to silence. To have no yesterday, and no to-morrow. To forget time, to forgive life, to be at peace.
Courageous people do not fear forgiving, for the sake of peace.
Be at War with your Vices, at Peace with your Neighbours, and let every New-Year find you a better Man.
And thou wilt give thyself relief if thou doest every act of thy life as if it were the last.[ποριεῖς δέ, ἂν ὡς ἐσχάτην τοῦ βίου ἑκάστην πρᾶξιν ἐνεργῇς.]
All we are saying is give peace a chance.
A peace is of the nature of a conquest, for then both parties nobly are subdued, and neither party loser.
A peace above all earthly dignities, a still and quiet conscience.
