Safety is never a permanent state of affairs.
States rise and fall like the tide. Nothing new.
Even all the money in the world cannot buy time, ever passing. Seasons, ever changing. This great, even beautiful cycle of life leaves us no choice but to accept it gladly.
You see people come. You see people go. And you realize how replaceable everyone really is. I was there 15 years. I had to pretend to be amused by four different meteorologists. And then you realize that you’re the replaceable one.
What has been need not always be.
We should make an effort to truly live, to count our lives in thoughts, feelings, breaths, and heartbeats, not the number of days, months, or years, because tomorrow is not promised.
There were sharks in that ocean before there were rings around Saturn. Humans, we’re just a blip. Showed up yesterday, almost certainly be gone tomorrow. All we have is today. My money is on them.[to Paul]
That is the problem with trust. You have it until you don’t.
Sometimes a little reminder that life is short can be a gift. Can give us that little extra push that we need.
So it only counts as love if it lasts forever. It’s forever that doesn’t exist. Love’s the only reason we’re here.
